Junior Chess Update 5/4/25

Published by Andres Borgas on

On a lovely spring day and the 1st day of the Easter holidays for most local schools we still had an excellent attendance of 18 Juniors that came along to enjoy chess.

Several of our regulars are away on the Spring and Easter holidays and so our end of term and Easter all play all competition will be held on the 26/4 when we hope and expect a good turnout.

This Saturday Tony gave a simul display to our advanced juniors which was good fun with most games ending in draws. A sign of good play by all and seeing the progress of this group is rewarding.

Steve has his hands full with 3 beginners – Liam, Anthony and Nathan and we are looking forward to seeing them learn and develop.

Azhar/Paul and Eric spent time with Kit now in the intermediate level and Pavina and Markas respectively. It is great to have the opportunity to have one to one sessions with this group.

The 2nd session was much smaller however Alfie/Josh/Andrew and Nicholas all reviewed mating attacks – Steve did well with beginners Nilay and Mariella.
