JUNIOR CHESS UPDATE 31/5/25
- Another Saturday, another good turnout at the end of half term with 22 juniors of all ages coming along to learn and play chess.
- We welcomed Kautum for the 1st time and good to see Willow returning along with Hektor and Harvey all new players during May
- Tony was unavailable so Martin admirably took both advanced sessions and some games and or puzzles were reviewed (see below)
- Steve took Liam and Willow through some basics and we are hopeful they are developing. Same applies to Nilay and Manvik. Remember to keep practicing in the week as the short lessons in one session are not quite enough.
- Eric enjoyed taking Kit and Harvey through a game showing them tactics through a middle game.
- Paul went through the game with Pavina and Jacob in the 1st session and Oakley and Holly in the 2nd session.
- One to ones and small group sessions are really good to teach and show less experienced juniors through all aspects of chess.
- Tristan, Sam and Lathujan are all using chess as one of their Duke of Edinburgh subjects and we encourage this for all.

- LADDER BOARD TABLES

- With 4 rounds gone and 6 to go, there is plenty of opportunity to move up the tables and coming weekly will obviously help.
- Nicolas has scored 4/4 in the advanced section with Tristan on 3.5 and Nathanial close on his heels with 3/4
- Pavina has scored 3/4 and Markas in on 2.5/3 so very close in the Intermediate section.
- 2nd session scores are all very close and nothing to choose between several players.
- To close the summary I need to thank the continued support of Steve, Paul, Martin and Tony for coming along and making all possible.
- Again, if there is anyone else out there either a parent or someone you know that could add to the team it would be much appreciated.
