JUNIOR CHESS SUMMARY 15/3/25

Published by Andres Borgas on

Fresh from the 2025 Junior Chess Championships held last Sunday I was delighted we had 9 of our players that entered and 6 of our players won prizes – well done all those that played and we would encourage more of our players to play next year.

Nathanial had an outstanding score of 7/7 in the under 12’s.

Other prize winners were:

Zayeen 3.5/7, Rowley 4.5/7, Nirvan 2.5/7, Rafan 3/7, Nicolas 5/7, Peter 5/7 – excellent effort and also well played Lathujan/Pavina and Zara.

Yesterday we had a good turnout of 23 players, all keen and enjoyable.

Tony went through various levels of puzzles and all did their best to solve them. We missed Nicolas and Nathanial.

Azhar stood in for Steve this week and did an excellent job with Kit (5 years old) and Levana.

Eric and Paul went through a full selection of mating puzzles with mates in 1 and 2 moves. We will concentrate on this very important part of chess over the next few weeks.

In the 2nd session Martin took several of our intermediates through a selection of puzzles. Eric was impressed with Nicholas and can see weekly progress now.
