BOURNEMOUTH JUNIOR CHESS UPDATE
22 NOVEMBER 2025
On a cold, wet and windy day 22 junior chess players made the effort to come and play chess, well done all and thanks to your parents for bringing you along.
Tony had 6 keen juniors reviewing a ‘Birds’ opening game and points awarded to those who selected the right moves.
This format is proving rewarding and enjoyable for all.
Graham went through and endgame puzzle which Sarah found in the shortest time, well done to her and all the other intermediates.
Paul went through tactics with Liam and again we hope he is learning.
Eric reviewed mating puzzles with JH who is progressing well now.
Steve, teaching the beginners did his best with Erin and Omer, we are hoping they are taking in all from his expert teaching.
In the much small 2nd session we still had an attendance of 8 juniors and we repeated similar teaching to this group.
Ladder Board Results
1st session – Nathaniel 1 Nicolas 0, Coach 0 Neil 1, Peter 1 Rafan 0, Pavina 0 Harvey 1, Markas 0 JH 1, Liam 0 Liam M 1, Erin 0 Omer 1.

The Ladder Board tables and Tony’s competition update will be displayed on the notice board on Saturday.
Peter has regained the lead after Nathanial beat Nicolas but with 2 weeks to go its very exciting.
Harvey has a clear lead in the Intermediates with Nirvan leading the pack
Nilay has a clear lead in the 2nd session intermedates despite losing on time this week with Andreas running away in the beginner section.
So, just 2 weeks to go for the completion of the ladder board competition and we plan to have a lightening 10 second event for all on the 13/12 – details to be advised nearer the time.
The final week on the 20/12 (Xmas) is the play for all event with prizes, medals and certificates planned.
