Another very enjoyable chess club yesterday with 22 juniors coming along to learn and enjoy chess.
George, who maintains and looks after our dedicated website, kindly came along to provide a guide and review of what is on our site. This includes weekly updates from the previous Saturday, reports and details of lessons, puzzles, results from the ladder board games played, and league tables. Please find time to look at this and practise in the week – it does not take long!
This is all done for your benefit and we hope it proves useful with your progress, enjoyment and development of chess.
1st Session
Tony’s Lesson – Advanced Group
Tony had a good session with our advanced players, who are all at senior school now, and reviewed how to mate with a bishop and knight – a very challenging and interesting endgame technique.
Graham’s Lesson – Intermediate Group
Graham reviewed a game with the intermediate group and we hope all learned aspects of good play during the lesson.
Puzzles
Graham set the following puzzles for the group – give them a try!
Steve’s Beginners – Omer, Arini, Erin and Atlas
Steve had his regular beginners — Omer, Arini, Erin and Atlas. We hope they are all continuing to benefit from Steve’s lessons.
2nd Session
Graham continued with puzzles and lessons from the 1st session with the 2nd session group of William, Koko, Nilay, Ram and Manvik.
Steve took newcomer Harry through the basics for his 1st lesson – we hope he continues and comes to enjoy chess.
Eric took Mariusz through the Sicilian Defence opening – we hope he gets to use it in some of his games!
