Welcome to Bournemouth Junior Chess Club for Returning Players and New Recruits

This Saturday 12/9/26 we are returning to the Library to resume our chess lessons.

I hope you all had a good summer and have recovered from the heatwaves.

Our team are enthusiastic about carrying on with teaching at all levels although we have one or two coaches away during the month and into early October. After then, it will settle down and we envisage to have our regular team supporting the club until the end of the year.

I am pleased to confirm Finn Schell is standing in for Tony on the 12/9 and Ian Clark will be coming to help on the 19/9. Our long term players will be familiar with both Finn and Ian. Steve will be back as will Paul Errington as a stand in for a couple of weeks.

Nicolas and Nilay are moving onto other activities and studies, so we wish them the very best with the knowledge they can play chess to a good level and will play again sometime somewhere in the future. They both, have been a pleasure to have at the club and will be missed.

For existing players that have advised they are returning, please arrange payment for September (3 weeks) and for anyone else that has not confirmed please advise if you are returning as we need to manage numbers.

On Saturday there will be some coaching and we need to register everyone with new forms and we will play games (not ladder games) to get all back into the chess mode.

Our aim at the club is to make everyone welcome regardless of level and enjoy the sessions and to improve all standards of chess. There are so many other platforms to learn and play on. This includes our own website with numerous types of subjects within the game to review and online through chess.com and lichess and u tube tutorials. I am sure many of you will be familiar with these.

We strongly encourage all players to look at these tools to help and improve your own chess.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday.
