We had 23 registered players for the day but as the time ticked toward 10 am with the glorious sunshine, half term and the Bank Holiday I was so pleased 20 keen and enthusiastic players came to learn and play chess.
We welcomed Emmanual for his 2nd lesson and am sure he will progress with the expertise of beginner expert Steve. Also in beginners group was Arini who is getting very close to joining the intermediate group, Omer, Erin and Atlas.
We said bye for now to Mariousz who attended 12 times in the last months to study for his exams and we hope he will return in September.
With Tony away for the today our cover was Lynsey Aris from the Bournemouth Club. Lynsey reviewed a game with the Advanced group and this was well received by all present. Well done Lynsey.

Ladder Board Highlights – 4 Weeks to Go
Advanced group: Nicolas on 12/13 – and Peter on 10.5/13.
Intermediate group – 1st session: Kit on 8.5 – only 6 years old! Nirvan on 7.5.
Intermediate group – 2nd session: All on 6.5 – Nilay, Manvik and Koko – all to play for at this stage. Special mention to Ram who joined recently and is on 4/4, so with 4 weeks to go he still has a chance.
Our 2nd session which is always smaller went well. Most lessons were repeated and Eric went through tactics with Ram who is improving all the time.
