We welcomed 27 juniors to the Library yesterday and had 2 excellent sessions of chess.

Details of the ladder board results from yesterday and ladder board tables after Round 2 appear later in the report.

I want to mention the Dorset Junior chess Congress which is being held on the 9/3/25 at the Bournemouth Grammar school for Girls. Details of entry are on the www.dorsetchess web site.

I would like to encourage all levels of juniors to enter as this is a great way to compete against other juniors in our area. Our club has previously had a good record of success in all ages in this event and it is the only over the board competition played annually.

Next Saturday is the 1st February and the club will operate for 3 weeks in February – 1st/8th/15th so we will be closed on the 22/2 as our coaches are unavailable and I will be away on holidays during February (2nd Feb-2nd March).

I request that you arrange payment for 4 weeks including the 1/3 to make things easier from an admin point of view. Azhar Ghose will be managing admin during my absence and all our dedicated coaches will be available as usual during this time.

Please contact me directly if any problems or any queries up to 1st February.

All our usual lessons and ladder board matches will carry on as usual.

This weekend the Dorset closed chess congress took place and I need to make a special mention to Aarav who did exceptionally well in tough competition to score 2/5 in his first major event. I hope this will encourage more of our advanced players to compete in similar competitions.

I would like to thank all the parents that bring their children along to learn and play chess and all our coaches for their dedicated support to the club on a regular basis.
