JUNIOR CHESS REPORT

FINAL SATURDAY

19 JULY 2025

Congratulations to all 26 competitors that took part in our end of term competition. The sections were allocated into a Major and a Minor.

We welcomed Gagan & Eden who came from the Ferndown Junior club and I hope they enjoyed the challenge and playing.

I was delighted that everyone scored points in each section and so it showed there is promise for all these young budding chess players.

The time control was 10 minutes each on the clock and it was pleasing to see several games going to the time control. Of course, there was others that finished a lot quicker however it was great to see 26 juniors playing in the highest level of chess etiquette which is so important.

Please see below the scoreboard for the Major section:

Congratulations to Peter who score 4.5/5 and winning 1st prize. Nicolas and Rafan were very close on 4/5 and congratulations to them for coming = 2nd.

All prize winners were given a medal and a cash prize (not contactless). Well done to Nicholas who scored 3/5 and came very close in getting so close to the prizes.

Other good scores were Arthur with 3/5, Nathanial 3/5 and Sam 3/5.

Well done to all whom scored points.

Please see below the scoreboard for the Minor section:

Congratulations to Gagan from Ferndown who scored an outstanding maximum points of 5/5. Kit, Nirvan and Eden (from Ferndown) scored 3/5 and shard + 2nd prize.

Kit did well this year

We had a remarkable attendance at the prizegiving of all parents /guardians and relatives which must have numbered 60 plus and I hope everyone enjoyed the day.

I have to thank our team of Paul and Martin and especially Graham Morris and Dee who came along on the day to help with the scoring and refreshments respectively on the day.
