In our penultimate session of the season we enjoyed having and teaching 20 enthusiastic juniors, including 2 new players Mariella and Drihti and we hope they enjoyed coming along.
We wanted to create an end of season feeling with fun games of chess 960 followed by prizegiving for the ladder board competition in both sessions.
However, it is important to keep learning and our 6 coaches delivered various levels of assistance and to all players.
Tony went through his array of puzzles, Steve spent time with the new beginners and existing ones to teach them basics.
Azhar/Paul/Eric gave one to one’s with some of the intermediates and Martin went through a game in the 2nd advanced sessions. The game can be viewed here – https://www.bournemouthjuniorchess.com/games/
Final ladder board ….
Winners were Nathanial/Alfie/Arthur who all received cash prizes and medals.
2nd place winners Peter and Nicolas also received cash prizes and medals.
Congratulations to all winners and everyone that took part over the season from September to December. The attendance was really good and it demonstrates the continuation really helps if you want to progress and play a good level of chess.
Once again, many thanks to all our coaches – Steve/Paul/Azhar/Martin/Tony who all provide such individual and excellent coaching to all the juniors. I would like to say the one to one’s really help and we aim to provide as much as possible.
Our final week next Saturday we are having our Xmas competition starting at 10-12pm with prizes and medals and certificates. Light refreshments will be provided. Please feel free to come in Xmas attire to make this a fun and Xmas event. To date – 22 players have signed up.
I look forward to seeing you all next Saturday.
