On a wet and windy day where parents were calling to confirm if chess club is still on, we had a compliment of 18 juniors over both sessions. This went really well and most enjoyable for all that came along.

We welcomed Levana for the 1st time and 2nd time for Harvey brought by Dad from the Bournemouth Club Rob Willington who helped out with coaching . Many thanks Rob.

Tony went through his puzzle routine for the Advanced group and all did pretty well. WHITE to DRAW below –

Again, top solvers were Nathanial, Nicolas and Peter.

All the intermediates and beginners had individual coaching and were a pleasure to teach.

In the 2nd session, Martin took a group of intermediate players through one of his games – https://www.bournemouthjuniorchess.com/games/

The intermediate and beginner sections were again individually coached and went on to play and enjoy ladder board games.

In an exciting finish Peter won his final game and Nicolas lost his so both finished with 8 points but Peter won his game with Nicolas to gain top place in a countback. Nathanial was very close and the standard of the games have improved – well done all.

A win for Markas leapfrogged him into 1st place in the intermediate and beginner section and likewise Alfie from the 2nd session took him into 1st place in the 2nd session.

Well done all for playing in as many rounds starting in September through this week in December. The overall attendance has been really good.

Ladder board final tables……

Next week we will playing chess 960 in the games – or Fischer style games so please practice a little. This is where the major back pieces are on different squares to a standard chess set up.

As always, many thanks to all our coaches – Paul/Steve/Azhar/Martin and Tony for supporting the club and event.
