I WAS DELIGHTED TO RETURN TO THE OUR CHESS CLUB AFTER A HOLIDAY AND LAST WEEK’S INTERVAL. IT WAS GREAT TO SEE ALL THE JUNIORS COMING ALONG AND ENJOYING CHESS. IT IS HALF TERM AND SEVERAL OF OUR REGULARS WERE AWAY BUT WE HAD A GOOD ATTENDANCE OF 17 JUNIORS.
WE WELCOMED CHARLOTTE FOR THE 1ST TIME, WHO HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN TO THE SOUTHBOURNE CLUB AND REALLY PLEASED TO NOTICE SHE REGISTERED WITH US UNTIL XMAS. I AM SURE SHE WILL ENJOY HER CHESS AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO HELPING HER PROGRESS.
ERIC TOOK THE 1ST SESSION WITH LEO’S ASSISTANCE TO REVIEW TWO LOCAL TOP LEVEL GAMES – SEE ATTACHED. BOTH GAMES WERE INTERESTING AND WERE WORTH SHOWING AND A REVIEW.

STEVE/PAUL AND AZHAR CARRIED OUT GROUP SESSIONS WITH LARISSA/NOAH/AMALEE/PAVINA/MARKAS/CARLO AND NIRVAN.
IN THE 2ND ADVANCED SESSION MARTIN REVIEWED ONE OF HIS GAMES WITH NEIL https://www.bournemouthjuniorchess.com/games/
STEVE HELPED CHARLOTTE WITH THE BASICS OF CHESS INCLUDING SOME OPENING THEORIES AND PAUL/AZHAR SPENT TIME WITH ALFIE AND VICTOR.
THERE WERE SOME EXCITING LADDER GAMES – SEE UPDATED TABLES BELOW WHICH INCLUDED NATHANIEL GETTING A BACK RANK MATE VS PETER IN AN EQUAL ENDING POSITION.
NICOLAS CAME FROM BEHIND TO GET THE POINTS CS LATHUJAN WHO HAD A GOOD GAME AND WAS IN A BETTER POSITION.
TRISTAN ALSO CAME FROM BEHIND VS HARISH AND DID WELL TO RECOVER – MOTTO – NEVER GIVE UP.
NEIL GAVE ERIC A REALLY CLOSE GAME AND DECLINED A DRAW IN A SLIGHTER SUPERIOR POSITION BUT LOST A TEMPO TO FALL FOR A MATING COMBINATION BUT VERY WELL PLAYED NEIL.
ITS STILL HALF TERM NEXT WEK BUT AS ALWAYS WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO ACCOMODATING AS MANY YOUNG CHESS PLAYERS THAT WISH TO COME ALONG.
THANKS AS ALWAYS TO OUR TEAM YESTERDAY OF STEVE/PAUL/AZHAR/MARTIN AND OF COURSE LEO.
