On a great summer day we had 18 juniors that came along to learn and play chess.

We welcomed back Albert for a 2nd week and also great to see Alfie back and better than ever. We saw some good games played in all sections today.

Tony went through a variety of puzzles and highlighted Nicholas and Nathaniel who were outstanding and also credit to Tristan, Harry and Harish for doing well. Nicholas solved the puzzle from the Dorset website in a record of 2 minutes – great stuff.

Martin getting professional with the projector looking like a seasoned teacher, went through an interesting game on the screen with a beautiful combination ending to finish off his opponent.

Eric had a good game and was impressed with Arthur who is improving all the time and also viewed an excellent game played by Amelia and Teddy in the knockout tournament, Teddy won by using the clock as a weapon! and goes into the final against either Noah or Pavina.

Eduard who is playing in the rapid play at Ringwood played a good game against Eric and we wish him the best of luck in his 1st congress on Sunday 23rd.

Thanks to Graham, Steve, Azhar, Tony and Martin for coming along to support the sessions and make it all possible.

It is rewarding and worthwhile when parents are complimenting us for running the sessions and can see how their own kids are progressing, not only over the chess board but growing up through Chess.

Remember chess is a life skill!

Ladder results and positions

Wins today for Nathaniel, Harry, Nicholas, Teddy, Amelia, Neil, Andrew, Alfie, Rafan and Aman.

With only 3 weeks to go, Nicolas looks a good bet to win his group, Eduard, Neil and Jesse squabble amongst themselves in their group. Larissa and Aman head the ladder in the remaining groups, still all to play for.
